Leili Abkar

Leili was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia, partially funded by the NSERC-PDF program and is now the Founder and CEO of ZalvaTech.

With a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering, she has extensive experience in water treatment, desalination, and membrane separation processes. Dr. Abkar is an expert in big data analysis and bioinformatics. In the Beck Lab, she expanded expertise in microbiome studies of natural and engineered environments, particularly related to gravity-driven membrane filtration, and investigated mechanisms of virus disinfection. Her technical proficiencies include RStudio, Prism, Tableau, QIIM2, and ROSA.
